According to MMAJunkie, the Strikeforce: Grand Prix Final drew the biggest audience to Showtime out of the promotion’s three shows that have been held in 2012 so far. MMAWeekly reports that Bellator 69 has generated the most viewers of the ten events held by that promotion this year.
The Strikeforce: Grand Prix Final went down last Saturday night at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California and generated an average audience of 463,000. By comparison, the blockbuster Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey averaged a viewing audience of 387,500. The event saw Daniel Cormier take the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix belt by defeating a game Josh Barnett over five rounds of action.
Bellator 69 took place last Friday evening at the L’Auberge du Lac Casino Resort in Lake Charles, Louisiana and pulled in 209,000 viewers. That number is a big improvement on the promotion’s sixth-season average so far, which is 158,000. Bellator 69 featured the sixth-season middleweight tournament final bout, which garnered added interest when finalists Maiquel Falcao and Andreas Spang had to be separated from fighting in the cage a few events earlier in the season.
