Following the UFC’s first all-heavyweight event, several fighters have received bonuses of $70 thousand for their performances. While no Fight of the Night bonus was given out, UFC President Dana White handed out two knockout of the night bonuses as well as two submission of the night awards.
“Knockout of the Night” bonuses were rewarded to Roy Nelson and Dan Hardy for their respective knockouts of Dave Herman and Duane Ludwig. “Big Country” flattened David Herman in 51 seconds with an overhand right in his heavyweight bout. Meanwhile, the welterweight earned his check by crumbling Duane Ludwig with a lead left hook that put the kickboxer to on the mat, “the Outlaw” then elbowed his opponent into oblivion at 3:51 of the first stanza.
“Submission of The Night” bonuses were given to Paul Sass and Stefan Struve, who also take home 70k. It was business as usual for the lightweight, who submitted Jacob Volkmann with his signature triangle choke. Stefan Struve came back from some early adversity by forcing Lavar Johnson to tap after eating some big shots from the heavyweight, pulling guard and catching an armbar in 65 seconds.
