Long-time UFC fighter Kenny Florian has decided to make his retirement official. Florian will remain part of the UFC’s number two announcing team with Jon Anik. The retirement was made official following tonight’s TUF Live Finale weigh-ins.
The announcement seemed fitting for the setting as Florian first broke through as a finalist on the first Ultimate Fighter at middleweight, losing to Diego Sanchez. Florian would eventually drop as low as featherweight in his career. Florian will go down as one of the best fighters to never win a UFC title, even though he challenged for a UFC belt on three occasions.
Florian originally announced he was considering retirement in January, after a back injury sidelined him indefinitely. At the time Florian said he would give it six months before making a decision on if he would retire, and today he made it official. Florian will remain with the UFC as an analyst both in studio and for some fights.
