Despite Gassing, Ring Outlasts McGee
It proved to be a war of attrition in a middleweight rematch from The Ultimate Fighter 11. Nick Ring used his jab and left cross to outpoint the TUF winner over the first ten minutes of the hotly contested bout. Unfortunately for “The Promise” he blew his wad, and was picked apart in the final period, luckily the Canadian had done enough to secure a unanimous decision victory (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).
Rivera Dominates Delorme
Francisco Rivera’s striking was absolutely dominant tonight against Roland Delorme. Delorme did his best to compete but was just out-matched by Rivera. The fight came to a halt when Delorme attempted a wild overhand right that Rivera easily parried and countered with a short left hook that floored Delorme.
Jimmo Ties UFC KO Record in UFC Debut
Former MFC standout needed only one punch in his UFC debut against Anthony Perosh. Jimmo connected on a perfect overhand right that knocked out Perosh on impact. The only thing that kept Jimmo from breaking the record was that referee Josh Rosenthal had backed to the other side of the cage for a better vantage point.
Caraway Survives Early Storm to Finish Gagnon
Bryan Caraway had to survive an early onslaught to defeat Mitch Gagnon but got the job done on Saturday night. Caraway utilized a more advanced ground game to protect himself early but then used it to turn the fight around with takedowns. In the third round, Gagnon was clearly exhausted. So when Caraway secured backmount with a body triangle the fight was all but over. Caraway then finally secured a rear-naked choke and finished the fight at the 1:39 mark of round 3.
