An ankle injury to Ben Rothwell has forced him out of his UFC on Fox 4 match up with Travis Browne.Rothwell’s ankle injury is not reported to be serious, but it would sideline him for the August 11 bout. MMAFighting is reporting that Strikeforce veteran Devin Cole has been tabbed as a replacement for Rothwell, though the UFC has not confirmed the change as of this post.
Travis Browne was last in action at UFC 145, where he earned a “Submission of the Night” bonus for submitting Chad Griggs. Browne has yet to lose in his fourteen-fight career.
If Cole is selected to replace Rothwell, he will carry a two-fight winning streak into the cage in his UFC debut. Cole defeated Gabriel Salinas-Jones via unanimous decision at “Strikeforce: Masvidal vs. Jones” last December.
UFC on Fox 4 takes place August 11 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The four-fight main card will be anchored by a light heavyweight fight between Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Brandon Vera. The main card will obviously air on Fox with the preliminary card airing on Fuel TV.
