After losing Mike Bronzoulis to undisclosed reasons earlier today, XFC 19 now will have a completely new main event as TUF-veteran Corey Hill has been moved to an event later this year. Stepping into the main event will be armbar specialist from the Blackzilians camp, Nicolae Curry, taking on fellow submission specialist, Roger Carroll. The event takes place tomorrow on AXStv live from Charlotte, NC.
Said XFC President John Prisco of the matchup:
“Nicolae has some of the sickest armbars I have ever seen. It didn’t even take him 90 seconds to tap out Harshbarger in October. I was blown away by his performance that night and I know he wants to put on a show in Charlotte. Roger may have more experience, but Nicolae wants to show everyone on AXStv that he is for real…” Prisco continued, “Roger is a submission machine and has some really big wins lately. Josh Eagans, who was on a five fight win streak and thought to be the best welterweight in the region got caught by Roger late last year. He submitted him a minute into the first round. He’s very impressive. But Nicolae is no slouch. I actually think this fight could stay standing due to both men being at such a high level on the ground. This fight could turn into a chess match or it could stay standing and one of these guys will get their first big knockout. This is going to be exciting either way and the stakes have never been higher for both men, when it comes to our welterweight division.”
The two will battle it out in the main event tomorrow night. The winner will likely face Corey Hill at an XFC event later this year.
XFC 19 will be co-headlined by Felice “Lil’ Bulldog” Herrig as she takes on Simona Soukupova. The card will also feature heelhook specialist Nick Newell taking on David Mays.
