UFC President Dana White has announced that the winner of UFC 150’s lightweight title fight between Frankie Edgar and Champion Ben Henderson will face Nate Diaz. White also confirmed there will not be a rematch of tonight’s bout regardless of the outcome. White made the announcement last night on FUEL TV.
Nate Diaz is 3-0 since returning to the lightweight division after a 2-2 run at welterweight. The TUF 5 winner has shown an impressive progression in his last few fights with dominating victories over Takanori Gomi, UFC 150 co-headliner Donald Cerrone, and Jim Miller. Diaz blasted Miller with an explosive victory that saw him batter Miller before finishing him with a brutal guillotine in the second round.
White did not specify when Diaz would fight tonight’s winner but that will likely be determined by the amount of damage the winner receives in tonight’s main event.
Be sure to tune in tonight on PPV as the lightweight title will be decided when champ Benson Henderson takes on former lightweight champ Frankie Edgar in a rematch of their UFC 144 bout. The event will be co-headlined by a lightweight tilt between Melvin Guillard and Donald Cerrone.
