Famed Manager Ed Soares has been named the President over upstart MMA promotion Resurrection Fighting Alliance. Soares will take over the reigns of the Kearney, Nebraska-based promotion soon. MMAFighting confirmed the online rumors of the signing earlier today.
Soares is best known for his management duties for fighters like UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, Lyoto Machida, the Nogueira brothers, and many other Brazilian fighters. Soares announced that his new post will not cause a major change in his managerial duties with partner Jorge Guimaraes.
While this may seem problematic if RFA were to approach one of Soares clients, Soares stated that he would not be a part of those negotiations and would ask other RFA officials to negotiate with Guimaraes.
RFA has already hosted three events in their short history and has seen support from UFC luminaries like light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and TUF 1 finalist Stephan Bonnar, who has been an analyst for the promotion.
While the promotion has stated they are a place for former stars, like Tyson Griffin and Joe Stevenson, to regain traction in their MMA careers. The promotion has signed notable prospects including Sergio Pettis (lightweight contender Anthony Pettis’s brother), NCAA Champion Bubba Jenkins, and multiple NCAA champion/Olympian Steve Mocco as well.
Soares told MMAFighting the promotion is working on a television deal and will have its third show in Nevada this October.
