Conflict MMA Promotions has released a statement regarding the tragic death of Tyrone Mims. Mims died following his fight this past Saturday night in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. According to MMAJunkie, the first autopsy did not reveal a cause of death according to Charleston (SC) County Coroner Rae Wooten.
The promotion will hold a special memorial at their next event that will involved the fighter’s family. The promotion will also be establishing a trust fund for his children, as well as a title belt, in the fighter’s name.

Please be advised, that I am corporate counsel for Conflict MMA Promotions. This is a very sad and difficult time for everyone. Conflict MMA would like to publicly express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Tyrone Mims. Words cannot describe the loss that has overwhelmed Conflict MMA Promotions and this sports community.
Conflict MMA Promotions traveled to Augusta, Georgia to spend time in mourning with his family. Conflict MMA would like to thank Tyrone Mim’s parents, Thomas and Barbara and all of his loving family and friends that so graciously welcomed them with open arms. They appreciated the time the family spent with them sharing precious stories and memories of Tyrone. Tyrone’s influence and what he contributed to so many lives will forever be in our hearts and the tragic loss of his kind soul will not be forgotten.

Conflict MMA Promotions would like to have a special memorial for Tyrone Mims at the next event in December with permission and participation of his family. In addition to setting up a memorial trust fund for his children, there will be a title belt dedicated to his name.

A more in-depth analysis of Mims’ autopsy is currently under way to ascertain the cause of death for the fighter, the results of which will be available 6-8 weeks from now. Fighters and other people onsite have confirmed that the commission followed proper protocol both before and after the fight. A full investigation is currently under way.
