A middleweight bout between Nick Ring and Costantinos “Costa” Philippou (pictured) has been set for the UFC’s return to Montreal. No word on if the bout will be on the main card or the preliminary card. MMAJunkie first reported the bout.
Philippou will be looking to extend his winning streak to five when he faces Ring. Philippou has won four straight since losing to Nick Catone on only a few days notice. Philippou has since won four straight, including a win over TUF 11 champion Court McGee at UFC on FX 3. The victory over McGee was made more interesting by the fact that Costa lost during the TUF 11 qualifying round. Philippou most recently defeated Riki Fukuda at UFC 148.
Fellow TUF 11 cast member Nick Ring is coming off a controversial victory over the aforementioned McGee at UFC 149. Ring faded after a strong opening round and appeared to be dominated the rest of the bout but somehow was awarded the win. The win put Ring back in the win column after a loss to Tim Boetsch at UFC 135.
UFC 154 takes place November 17 in Montreal, Quebec. The headlining bout will be a UFC welterweight title unification bout between champion Georges St-Pierre and interim champion Carlos Condit. The card will take place at the Bell Centre.
