UFC on FX 5 Update: Jeremy Stephens Arrested, Edwards Bout Uncertain [UPDATED]

[UPDATED 13:31hrs] The Minneapolis Police Department has officially listed Stephens as being held without bail due to an out-standing warrant for an out of state felony charge. Stephens bout tonight seems unlikely but is currently still planned. [UPDATED]

UFC lightweight Jeremy Stephens was arrested this morning at the fighter’s hotel. No formal charges have been brought at this time but it is unclear if the fighter will be able to compete at tonight’s UFC on FX 5 fight card against Yves Edwards. MMAJunkie first reported news of the arrest earlier today.

Sources have remained quiet on the reason for the hard-hitting lightweight’s arrest for the time being.

MMAJunkie reports that Stephens was arrested at the Marriott City Center Hotel, the UFC’s host hotel for the event, and arrived at the Hennepin County Public Safety Facility at 10:44AM CT.  No information was given on when he could be released.

If the bout is cancelled, the UFC will bump Aaron Simpson and Mike Pierce to the FUEL TV-aired preliminaries and scrap the Facebook card.

This would be the second bout cancelled on short notice for the card after Dennis Hallman missed weight and then left to attend a family matter yesterday afternoon.
