UFC on FX 5 Medical Suspensions: Castillo out Indefinitely

The Minnesota Athletic Commission has released the medical suspensions in regards to last Friday’s UFC on FX 5 in Minneapolis. All fighters on the card received a mandatory seven day suspension as per the guidelines of the commission.

Lightweight Danny Castillo is facing possibly the longest suspension after his devastating knockout loss to Michael Johnson on the preliminary card. Castillo will require a neurological examine before he returns to action.

Heavyweight Travis Browne, who suffered a TKO loss to Antonio Silva, was suspended based on his TKO loss but will be out 2-4 months after sustaining a torn hamstring according to the fighter’s twitter account.

Medical Suspensions:

  • Travis Browne: suspended 30 days with no contact during training for 14 days for precautionary reasons
  • Jay Hieron: suspended 30 days with no contact during training for 14 days due to a laceration
  • Jussier “Formiga” da Silva: suspended 30 days with no contact during training for 14 days for precautionary reasons
  • Danny Castillo: suspended indefinitely until cleared by a neurological exam; regardless, suspended 60 days with no contact during training for 45 days for precautionary reasons
  • Diego Nunes: suspended 45 days with no contact during training for 30 days due to a laceration
  • Bart Palaszewski: suspended 45 days with no contact during training for 30 days due to a laceration
  • Aaron Simpson: suspended 60 days with no contact during training for 45 days for precautionary reasons
