Heavyweights Ben Rothwell and Gabriel Gonzaga will square off this January in Brazil. No word yet on where the bout will end up on the lineup. Brazilian site Tatame first reported the news.
Gonzaga was supposed to fight at UFC 153 before his opponent Geronimo dos Santos was forced off the card with health issues. Gonzaga himself was forced off UFC 146 with injury. The Brazilian big man was last in action at UFC 142, here he steamrolled Edinaldo Oliveira in the first round.
Rothwell was forced out of his UFC on Fox 4 bout with Travis Browne with injury as well. Rothwell was last in action at UFC 145, where he survived a rough start against Brendan Schaub to knock out the TUF veteran.
The January 19 Brazil card was originally reported as UFC 156 but the event will actually be a non-pay-per-view card after the UFC announced that UFC 156 will take place on Super Bowl weekend. Full details for the event, including name and venue, have not been announced at this time.
