Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton Jackson has announced via his twitter account that he will be facing Glover Teixeira at the promotion’s sixth Fox offering, saying, “Glover is done on Jan 26 n (sic) Chicago.”
“Rampage”, who has been very outspoken about this being his last fight in the UFC, pleaded with Dana White to make the fight happen since the Brazilian posted a dominant UFC 153 win against Fabio Maldonado. The two were originally slated to meet on that very card, but an undisclosed injury to Rampage put the kibosh on that bout.
Jackson (32-10) has been inactive since a UFC 144 loss to Ryan Bader, a bout which saw the injured Memphis native ground out in an unanimous decision loss. Prior to that bout, he failed to wrest the title from current champion Jon Jones.
Teixeira (19-2) is 2-0 since his long-anticipated UFC debut, which saw him dismantle Kyle Kingsbury. The heavy-handed Brazilian most recently assaulted the aforementioned Fabio Maldonado en route to a doctor’s stoppage in his home country.
