After his crushing loss to Anderson Silva at UFC 153, Stephan Bonnar decided to hang up the gloves. However, behind a failed post-fight drug test, “The American Psycho” can not opt out of retirement, as he did prior to the bout, until October 13, 2013.
Bonnar was sentenced to a one-year suspension after testing positive for an anabolic steroid, Drostanolone, for the second time in his career. The Carlson Gracie black belt also once tested positive for Boldenone, yet another steroid, after his 2006 rematch with Forrest Griffin.
Dave Herman, who also came up on the losing end against Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at the aforementioned event, tested positive for marijuana in his post-fight examinations. Herman has received a lesser suspension of six months and has been forced to be enroll in drug treatment program.
