Ultimate Fighter coach Shane Carwin is out of the targeted heavyweight bout with Roy Nelson at the season’s finale after having suffered a knee injury. UFC President Dana White broke the news via twitter, writing, “It never ends, Carwin blew his knee out.”
Carwin (12-2) has been on the shelf for 17 months. The former interim UFC Heavyweight Champion has not had his hand raised inside the octagon since UFC 111 in March of 2010. The former division II wrestler was undefeated prior to suffering losses to Brock Lesnar and Junior Dos Santos.
According to Dana White, the promotion is still “looking for a new opponent for Roy on the TUF Finale on FX,” but nothing has been decided as of this writing.
