The UFC’s return to Japan will be headlined by a pair of hard-hitters who are very familiar with the country as Brian Stann meets Wanderlei Silva. While both fighters have been fighting at middleweight, both will return to light heavyweight for the bout. The UFC confirmed the pairing Wednesday evening.
Stann, who was born in Tokyo, returns to light heavyweight after going 4-2 in the middleweight division, but was 1-2 in his last three after dropping a hard fought decision to Michael Bisping at UFC 152 in his last bout.
Wanderlei Silva will be returning to the light heavyweight division after going 2-1 at middleweight. The former PRIDE middleweight champion was last in action at UFC 147, where he dropped his main event bout to Rich Franklin.
The UFC also confirmed three more bouts for the event featuring Stefan Struve vs. Mark Hunt, Takanori Gomi vs. Diego Sanchez, and Dong Hyun Kym taking on Siyar Bahadurzada.
UFC on FUEL TV 8 will take place on March 3, a Sunday, at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
