UFC on Fox 5 Medical Suspensions

UFC on Fox 5 PosterThe Washington State Department of Licensing has released the list of medical suspensions from UFC on Fox 5. All fighters received a mandatory seven-day suspension, with thirteen fighters receiving longer suspensions. The longest mandatory suspensions of 60 days were doled out to four fighters.

Main event fighter Nate Diaz received a conditional suspension of 30 to 60 days, with the suspension dependent upon an evaluation by an ENT (ear, nose, and throat) doctor. While no reason was listed, the variable time is likely due to the hematoma Diaz sustained in his bout with UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson. Once the swelling subsides, the ENT doctor will be able to determine if there was a fracture and offer some clarity on his return date.

Of the four fighters who received mandatory 60-day suspensions, three were brutally knocked out on Saturday. The fourth, Joe Proctor, was on the receiving end of some vicious shots  by Ramsey Nijem but was not knocked out.
