The UFC awarded $65,000 bonuses for each of the usual categories at UFC 155, with Jim Miller, Joe Lauzon, Todd Duffee, and John Moraga all picking up the extra cash. Miller and Lauzon were awarded “Fight of the Night,” while Duffee and Moraga picked up “Knockout” and “Submission” for their respective finishes. The UFC announced the bonuses at the post-fight press conference, UFC President Dana White also told the press that UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez was awarded a free Harley-Davidson motorcycle after winning the title tonight.
Miller and Lauzon won $65,000 for their blood-bath in tonight’s co-main event. Miller controlled the early part of the fight but Lauzon refused to go quietly and rallied in the second and third rounds with a valiant effort that nearly stole the fight. The bonus also moved Lauzon into a tie with UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva for the most bonuses in UFC history.
Todd Duffee made a triumphant return to the UFC tonight and made a bit more cash in doing so. The very gracious fighter was awarded “Knockout of the Night” for his knockout of Phil De Fries on tonight’s Facebook preliminary card.
Rounding out the bonuses was John Moraga winning “Submission of the Night” for his come from behind victory over Chris Cariaso. Down two rounds to Cariaso, Moraga turned what looked like a sloppy arm-in guillotine into a gorgeous submission finish. Much to Cariaso’s dismay, Moraga quickly transfered his hold to a D’arce grip front choke. Which forced his shocked opponent to tap in the third frame.
