Strikeforce: Marquardt vs. Saffiedine Lineup Finalized

Nate MarquardtThe lineup for Strikeforce’s final card is now set after a previously announced matchup between Pat Healy and Kurt Holobaugh was confirmed for the January 12 show. The event, dubbed “Strikeforce: Marquardt vs. Saffiedine,” will feature three different cards including the Showtime aired main card.

The Showtime main card will feature five fights topped by the promotion’s final title fight between welterweight kingpin Nate Marquardt taking on Tarex Saffiedine. The Strikeforce finale will also feature a four fight billing on Showtime Extreme, topped off by Healy vs. Holobaugh, and a two fight “dark” card before the broadcast begins.

The final January event will take place at the home of the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Chesapeake Energy Arena. The arena was the original site for “Strikeforce: Cormier vs. Mir” before the event was canceled prior to the November show. The card will be headlined by welterweight champion Nate Marquardt facing Tarec Saffiedine and Strikeforce Grand Prix champion Daniel Cormier taking on Dion Staring.
