Barnett and Mousasi Top Strikeforce Finale’s Payroll

Josh Barnett SF finaleThe disclosed payroll for the Strikeforce swan song have been released. Topping the list are Josh Barnett, who ran through Nandor Guelmino for $250k and Gegard Mousasi who put a beating on Mike Kyle to take home $175k.

The evening’s main event, which saw Tarec Saffiedine chop down Nate Marquardt had the two welterweights take home $39k and $40k respectively. Also receiving a rather large chuck of change was Daniel Cormier, who banked $120k total.

It’s the “War Master’s” elephantine paycheck that should give fans pause. $250,000 is a number high enough that the UFC may not be willing to continue paying Barnett. His standing with the Zuffa brass is less than sterling, and for him to brought in making more than their champion Cain Velasquez, who banked $200,ooo for his UFC 155 walloping of Junior Dos Santos, is highly unlikely to say the least.
