After K.J. Noons and Ryan Couture battled back and forth for 15 minutes in the the Chesapeake Energy Arena this past Saturday at Strikeforce’s final show, the sound of the final bell did not come without controversy. The judges rendered a split decision and the victory was awarded to Couture, despite the fact that many felt that “King” had been wronged. Among those was UFC president Dana White, who took to Twitter, saying, “Ryan is tough but KJ Noons got robbed!”
As a result of the contentious decision, a loss in the Hawaiian’s “UFC audition” did little to keep him out of the promotion.
While pen has yet to meet paper, the former Elite XC lightweight champion told MMA Junkie that he was approached after his fight and told, “Heal up, and as soon as you’re healed up, then start training, and we’ll get you on a card,” by the UFC brass.
The boxer is already looking for a second crack at Couture, in an attempt to right the wrong that dropped his recent record to 1-4 in his last five bouts.
