UFC president Dana White spoke recently about the recent move to Spike TV by UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture. Rather than expressing anger over the move of Couture, the UFC president seemed relieved to have the former fighter and analyst leave the fold. White spoke to MMAJunkie about the move at the UFC 156 media day.
White told MMAJunkie:
“Randy Couture comes off as the greatest guy in the world – Captain America,” White said. “He’s the furthest thing from it, and I’m happy that I don’t have to be in business with him anymore. Now I don’t ever have to be in business with him again.”
The UFC president’s relationship with Couture never quite recovered after the fighter’s unsuccessful 2007 legal battle against the company. Which saw Couture’s legal team personally attack White in the proceedings related to the contract dispute between the two sides.
Couture would return to the UFC, and retire with the company, but his recent departure will seemingly close the door on the relationship between the two entities.
Couture’s son, Ryan, was recently signed by the UFC following Strikeforce’s closing but is not expected to be affected by the recent business dealings.
