After a tempestuous road to the title, Marcos Galvao will finally be getting his championship opportunity come one week from today. “Loro’s” Bellator run has been steeped in controversy, his promotional debut saw him robbed in a catchweight bout with then featherweight champion Joe Warren. The Brazilian once again suffered a questionable decision loss to Alexis Vila in the Season 5 Tournament Semifinals.
The Nova Uniao product finally made it through the tournament format in season 6, but waiting for him on the other side is friend and teammate Eduardo Dantas, who Galvao will lock horns with for the Bellator Bantamweight Title.
All is not well between the the two, however, as Galvao told Rebellion Media’s own Brendhan Conlan:
“If I was in Dantas’ position I wouldn’t have taken this fight. But since Dantas took this fight, I feel it was a bit disrespectful so I’m even more focused on winning,” explained Galvao through a translator, saying the word “bitter” won’t be attached to “sweet” when describing the sensation of defeating Dantas for the belt. “He’s just another opponent.”
