The UFC has added a trio of bouts to the UFC on FUEL TV 9 fight card. The UFC’s return trip to Sweden will now feature the debut of Strikeforce prospect Ryan Couture against the always tough Ross Pearson. UFC officials announced he pairings this past Friday.
Kicking off the trio will be a pair of heavyweights in search of a win as Matt Mitrione will face Phil De Fries. Both fighters will come into the bout coming off knockout losses in their December bouts.
Ryan Couture will make his UFC debut in Stockholm against Ross Pearson. Couture, son of Randy Couture, comes to the organization after a 6-1 run in Strikeforce. He will face a stiff test in his UFC debut when he faces The Ultimate Fighter 9 champion Pearson.
In the third announced bout, TUF: Smashes cast member Ben Alloway will face newcomer Ryan LaFlare in Sweden. Alloway impressed in his official UFC debut at UFC on FX 6 with a strong knockout of Manuel Rodriguez.
UFC on FUEL TV 9 is scheduled for the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden on April 6. Tickets will go on sale February 9. Last year’s UFC: Sweden set attendance records for the arena after selling out in three hours. This year’s card will be headlined by a light heavyweight duel between contenders Alexander Gustafsson and Gegard Mousasi. The event sold out in less than three hours earlier this week.
