The UFC will keep their UFC vs. Strikeforce motif going for UFC on Fox 7 as former Strikeforce middleweight contender Lorenz Larkin faces Francis Carmont (pictured). The bout will likely take place on the April evening’s preliminary card. The UFC announced the pairing on Saturday.
Lorenz Larkin was due to face former Strikeforce champion Luke Rockhold before the champ was forced out of the bout a second time prior to their January meeting. Larkin is currently undefeated in MMA and looking to transition his talented striking attack into the UFC when he faces Tristar’s Carmont. The Quebecois fighter extended his winning streak to nine with a controversial win over Tom Lawlor at UFC 154.
The bout will join what will be a stacked UFC on Fox 7 fight card in San Jose, California. The main event for the card will have lightweight champion Benson Henderson putting his title on the line against final Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez. The card will be co-headlined by a heavyweight battle between Daniel Cormier and Frank Mir. The card will take place April 20 at the HP Pavilion.
