UFC on FUEL TV 7 kicked off today’s afternoon of fights in style with a six-fight billing. The card, which aired live on Facebook, was punctuated by a one-sided scrap between Terry Etim and Renee Forte. Elsewhere on the card, Danny Castillo, Andy Ogle, Tom Watson, Vaughn Lee, and Phil Harris all notched wins on today’s opener for the FUEL TV main card.
Forte Dominates Etim
The biggest underdog on tonight’s card won big tonight at Renee Forte dominated Terry Etim. The British striker, in his first fight since his brutal KO loss to Edson Barboza, was never able to get comfortable against the aggressive Forte. Forte nearly finished Etim in the second round, and the former featherweight never looked back after that point in the fight. The win was The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil veteran’s first official UFC victory.
Castillo Smothers Sass
Paul Sass dropped his second straight fight in England by losing to Danny Castillo in London. The story of this fight was Castillo’s submission defense. Castillo was unafraid to take Sass to the mat due to the confidence he had in his submission defense. While Sass threatened multiple times in the fight, and looked better in the striking game, he was unable to stop the wrestling attack of Castillo.
Ogle Defeats Grispi
Josh Grispi’s perplexing downfall continued in London. The former number one prospect at featherweight looked like he would be able to finish the fight early, but was unable to finish multiple submission attempts on Andy Ogle. After the first round, it was pretty much all Andy Ogle for the remainder of the fight, as the British fighter looked fantastic in the cage tonight. Grispi is likely to see his frustrating UFC career come to a close after tonight’s fight.
Watson Defeats Nedkov, Calls Out TRT Users
After two close but less-than-thrilling fights, England’s Tom Watson brought the London crowd to their feet with a rousing defeat of Stanislav Nedkov. Watson built a big lead early in the fight but Nedkov negated that late in the first with a vicious flurry that would have put away most fighters but Watson held on.
Watson would again get crushed to start the second round, but the English fighter was not interested in going away and rallied back by working back to his feet. Watson would land a few big knees to the body and short elbows that hurt Nedkov before putting him away late in the round with a powerful flurry.
After the win, Watson called out “anyone” on TRT, labeling the treatment an epidemic.
