Matt Riddle has been released from the UFC following his second straight positive test for marijuana. Riddle has spent his entire career in the UFC prior to his release. The news was announced earlier this evening on MMAJunkie by the fighter himself.
The fighter, who is a licensed user in the state of Nevada, had continued using medicinal marijuana despite the UFC asking him to deter the practice prior to competition.
“Deep Waters” had previously stated that he would stop using three weeks prior to competition but apparently either broke that promise or did not give himself enough leeway.
The UFC was responsible for the testing in lieu of an athletic commission.
The Ultimate Fighter 7 alum went 8-3 in his UFC career.
