UFC president Dana White recently discussed a request from UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson to get in on the recent superfight craze by facing UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. White told UFC Tonight that he quickly nixed the idea stating that “Bendo” had too much to do at lightweight first.
“It’s not going to happen. Benson just won that title not too long ago, there are plenty of guys in the 155-pound division to defend the title against, and there’s a possible fight with Aldo if Aldo moves up and stays at 155.”
Both Henderson and St-Pierre are scheduled to face Cesar Gracie fighters in the coming months, with Bendo facing Gilbert Melendez and St-Pierre facing Nick Diaz.
