MMAFrenzy’s coverage of UFC on FUEL TV 8 continues with our coverage of the opening bouts of tonight’s FUEL TV fight card. In the third bout of the FUEL main card, Yushin Okami defeated Hector Lombard in a solid performance. Fighters Rani Yahya and Dong Hyun Kim also notched wins in the opening action of the evening.
Okami Edges Lombard
Yushin Okami looked strong against Hector Lombard tonight in Japan. Okami did enough to earn the nod in the fight but came very close to a repeat of his UFC 144 loss to Tom Boetsch as Lombard poured it on in the third. Okami would hold on and get the win however, netting his third straight victory.
Yahya Fades Late, Still Defeats Hirota
It did not end pretty, but it still ended up a win for Rani Yahya. Yayha would dominate the first two rounds of the fight, nearly finishing with an arm-triangle in the second, but would have to hold on late against Mizuto Hirota. Hirota would let it all hang out late in the fight and tried everything from strikes to submissions to get the win via finish but the Brazilian managed to hold on and survive to get the decision win.
Kim Shows Up Bahadurzada
Dong Hyun Kim was absolutely dominating in his performance versus Siyar Bahadurzada. Kim avoided the Afghani-fighter’s power and out-grappled his opponent. Kim would look for the finish with submissions and strikes but Bahadurzada would not yield. This lead to Kim showing up his opponent in the final frame in a sign of disrespect towards his opponent, but Kim would make nice following the bout.
