A light heavyweight bout between Ryan Jimmo and Igor Pokrajac is on tap for UFC 161. The June bout will likely land itself on the preliminary card. The Canadian Free Press first announced the pairing.
Canada’s Ryan Jimmo saw a seventeen-fight win-streak snapped at UFC on FUEL TV 7 against James Te Huna. Jimmo nearly finished the bout in explosive fashion after a first round knockdown, but exhausted himself trying to do so and was overtaken by Te Huna in the next two rounds.
Jimmo’s opponent, Igor Pokrajac, is looking to get back on track after dropping consecutive bouts to Joey Beltran and Vinny Magalhães. Pokrajac’s loss to Beltran was overturned after Beltran tested positive for banned substances, which seems to have given the fighter a second chance.
UFC 161 takes place June 15 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The fight card will be headlined by the interim bantamweight title fight between champion Renan Baráo and Eddie Wineland. The card will be co-headlined by a pair of light heavyweight battles pitting Rashad Evans vs. Dan Henderson and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua 2.
