In an unsurprising move, the UFC has elected to cut ties with heavyweight Lavar Johnson. The heavyweight was suspended for nine months following a positive test for elevated levels of testosterone. MMAJunkie first reported the fighter’s release from the UFC.
Johnson was originally sparred a pink slip following his UFC 157 loss to Brendan Schaub but the positive test sealed his fate. The former Strikeforce import went 2-2 in the UFC, dropping his final two bouts in the promotion after winning his first two.
