According to a report from UFC Junkie, Sean Salmon’s (0-1 UFC) UFC opponent Eric Schafer (1-2 UFC) was forced to withdraw from their scheduled UFC undercard bout on May 26th at UFC 71. Schafer’s replacement will be another 1-2 UFC fighter, Alan Belcher.
Salmon debuted earlier this year in the main event of UFC Fight Night 8 against a more experience octagon veteran Rashad Evans. After seemingly winning the first round an unblocked kick from Evans put Salmon out cold. Since the fight Salmon has joined Team Gurgel to train for his upcoming fight agaisnt Schafer who was knocked out of action with a reported broken rib.
Belcher dropped a unanimous decision to Yushin Okami in his octago debut last year at UFC 62. He returned to the octagon late in 2006 at UFC Fight Night 7 with a KO win over Jorge Santiago. The winning ways wouldn’t last for long as Belcher fell to TUF alum Kendall Grove at UFC 69 in Houston early last month.
