Earlier this month there were rumors that Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic would be returning to the octagon on July 7th at UFC 73, although recent reports indicated he was still recovering from his devastating KO loss at UFC 70 and would likely be out of action for several additional months. It now appears, according to a report from Dnevnik.hr, that the Croatian UFC star will return to action in September at the event we recently announced, UFC 75 in London. Here’s a rough translation of what he told the website:
“I was given two options: August 25th in Las Vegas [UFC 74] or September 8th in London [UFC 75]. I personally chose London.”
Although no opponent is mentioned in the article, Brandon Vera may be a very likely possibility according to sources I have spoken to. Just days ago we learned that Vera would likely be returning in August and both Cro Cop and Andrei Arlovski were potential opponents. The debut may, instead, be pushed back just 2 weeks to UFC 75 to have a top contenders matchup between Vera and Filipovic.
