Steve Bruno has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled UFC debut on June 12th at UFC Fight Night 10 with Chad Reiner. Bruno suffered an injury during training this past Friday according to The Fight Network. The report suggests the Iraq war vet suffered a torn rotator cuff and will be out indefinitely with no estimate on his return. If the injury is confirmed as a tear it may take until early 2008 for him to fully recover and be in fighting condition.
No replacement for Bruno has been announced and with just a week remaining until the event it may be unlikely the bout happens at all.
Bruno has an 11-3 MMA record including a current 4 fight win streak. He has fought recently in the Spirit Martial Challenge organization claiming the middleweight title and winning his last match in late April via a 3rd round KO.
An official confirmation of the injury and a replacement (if one is found on such short notice) should be announced by the UFC soon and I will be sure to pass it along as soon as it’s announced.
