The UFC’s lineup has become ever more dense with UFC Fight Night 11 going down September 20th in Las Vegas at The Palms Hotel and Casino. It will serve as a lead in for the debut episode of The Ultimate Fighter 6 which will air immediately following the event. Fight Night 11 joins UFC 74 on August 25th, UFC 75 on September 8th, and UFC 76 on September 22nd as the UFC puts on 4 events (including 3 PPVs) in under a months time.
There are two rumored fights currently expected to take place at the event. The Fight Network is reporting that the event will be “lead” by a match between Din Thomas and Spencer Fisher. Mike Swick may also face Chris Leben at the event, although this fight could also happen just 2 days later in Anaheim at UFC 76. If both fights are indeed on the final card expect them to be co-main events.
Thomas is coming off of 3 straight wins over Rich Clementi, Clay Guida, and, most recently, Jeremy Stephens at UFC 71. Fisher has won 3 of his last 4 fights. He picked up wins over Matt Wiman and Dan Lauzon before losing to Hermes Franca at UFC Fight Night 8 in January. He bounced back to win a unanimous decision war against Sam Stout in June. Fisher was previously expected to face Joe Lauzon in his next fight although the UFC may be putting off the fight until Lauzon picks up more octagon experience.
Joe Lauzon may ultimately end up fighting at UFC Fight Night 11 as well. After being on The Ultimate Fighter 5 Lauzon has become a fan favorite of sorts and putting him on another free UFC event could boost his popularity even further. Wins by Lauzon and Fisher would likely set them up to headline a future UFC Fight Night event against one another.
