According to a MySpace post by Travis Lutter the Ultimate Fighter 4 winner has aggravated an injury and will be unable to fight Ryan Jensen at UFC 74 as originally planned. Here is the post Lutter made yesterday:
UFC 74 injured.
Saturday July 28th I was training and reagrivated a old injury. After giving my neck a chance to heal I decided I was not going to be healed in time for the fight. I would like to thank all the people that were helping me prepare for this fight and I look forward to fighting in the near future.
UFC 74 does not take place until August 25th giving the UFC some time to find a fighter willing to fill in for Lutter on short notice. The event is headlined by a heavyweight title match between champion Randy Couture and Gabriel Gonzaga. A top welterweight clash between Josh Koscheck and Georges St. Pierre is also on the card.
Although many fans know Lutter for his successful run on the reality show many fans came to recognize him as the “guy who didn’t make weight” after he fell a half-pound short of making weight for a middleweight title fight against Anderson Silva that was to take place at UFC 67. Lutter went on to lose the fight by submission in the second round. The UFC 74 fight against the UFC newcomer Jensen was to be his return to the UFC for the first time since the loss but it appears he will now have to wait even longer to make his return to the octagon.
The UFC has not yet confirmed the injury or removed Lutter from the official fight card likely because they are still seeking his replacement.
