The UFC on FUEL TV 9 fight card saw a last second change on Tuesday as Gegard Mousasi will take on fellow UFC newcomer Ilir Latifa.

Latifa is largely unknown to the general public and mostly known for breaking the ring in his fight with Blagoi Ivanov. Luckily UFC Tonight’s Kenny Florian and guest host Rashad Evan’s were far more familiar with Mousasi’s new opponent.

Said Florian:

“Latifi is a national champion in wrestling in Sweden. If we’ve seen a weakness in Mousasi in the past, it’s with guys who can take him down and control him, so perhaps Ilir has the style that will give him a lot of problems.”

Evans added:

“He was one of the first members of the Blackzilians. We trained together. He was strong. I started calling him ‘The Strongy.’ He’s a good wrestler and has a lot of power in his hands. He can put you out with one shot.”

Latifi is also a training partner of the injured Alexander Gustafsson and will look to capitalize on his huge opportunity when he faces the Strikeforce import this weekend.

Mousasi’s original opponent, Gustafsson, was officially ruled out for the UFC on FUEL TV 9 card by the SMMAF earlier today due to a cut sustained last week.

UFC on FUEL TV 9 is scheduled for the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden on April 6. Last year’s UFC: Sweden set attendance records for the arena after selling out in three hours.
