After a tentative start in the championship bout that anchored Bellator 95 at the Revel in Atlantic City, New Jersey, featherweight Champion Pat Curran threw on one of his most impressive submissions to date against Shahbulat Shamhalaev.
The two were light on action early, with the Russian largely content to kick at the legs of the champion. Then the Illinois native shot for a takedown. Once “Assassin” sprawled, Curran ducked under, scrambled, and locked up a nearside arm-in guillotine with staggering speed. The Russian attempted to survive, but would inevitably find himself asleep at the 2:38 mark.
