MMAFrenzy’s coverage of UFC on FUEL TV 9 continues with our coverage of the final Facebook preliminary fights. The final Facebook fight of the evening saw Reza Madadi defeating Michael Johnson in a great fight. In other action, Tor Tröeng, Adlan Amagov (pictured), and Conor McGregor notched wins.
Madadi Comes Back to Submit Johnson
Swedish-Iranian fighter Reza Madadi had to recover from some extreme early danger to defeat Michael Johnson. Johnson caught Madadi with a blistering headkick at the end of the first round that would have finished most fighters.
Madadi would recover in the second and third rounds with fantastic wrestling and submission skills. Madadi would then setup an expert anaconda choke early in the third round that forced Johnson to tap out.
The victory sent the hometown crowd into a frenzy and Madadi jumped into the audience to celebrate with them briefly.
Tröeng Dismantles Cella
In a battle of The Ultimate Fighter 17 contestants, Team Sonnen’s Tor Tröeng rebounded from his in-house loss by picking Team Jones fighter Adam Cella apart. Tröeng looked like a much different fighter than he did in his last fight on the FX show, dominating Cella in all facets of the game. The Swede would finish the bout after out-grappling Cella on the ground and securing the rear-naked choke.
Tröeng is now 16-4 as a pro and has won five straight professional bouts. Cella falls to 4-1 with the loss.
Amagov Baffles Spang in UFC Debut
Chechen fighter Adlan Amagov made his promotional debut against fellow Strikeforce import Chris Spang. Amagov confused and frustrated the hometown fighter with a barrage of spinning attacks that came from all angles. The Chechen fighter then began to mix in his wrestling as the bout wore on by securing some nice takedowns throughout the fight.
The highlight of this fight was the many unorthodox techniques used by Amagov, which included headkicks from the back clinch. Amagov has now won two straight bouts.
McGregor Impresses in Debut Against Brimage
Much-hyped Irish fighter Conor McGregor did not disappoint in his UFC victory. McGregor took advantage of Brimage’s aggression and expertly used angles to pick apart Brimage. Three straight uppercuts by McGregor landed flush on “The Bama Beast” and it clearly stunned him, the Irishman swarmed after that and the fight was all over.
