Elite Boxer Holly Holm to Retire from Boxing, Enter MMA Full Time

Elite women’s boxer Holly Holm (32-2-3 Boxing, 3-0 MMA) has announced her retirement from boxing in order to focus on her fledgling MMA career. The world champion boxer announced the move at a press conference for her final boxing matchup with Mary McGee (20-1).

Said Holm:

“When we were deciding which way to go with my future, my trainer Mike said it best: ‘You want to climb a new mountain, This thing has created a new spark in me, and I’m following my heart.”

Holly Holm has amassed a 3-0 record in MMA at bantamweight. All of her fights have ended by TKO or KO, with the most impressive part being that her arsenal of kicks. The Team Jackson-Winkeljohn fighter was last in action at Bellator 91, where she crushed Katie Merrill in the second round with a wicked body punch.

Holm was notably absent from The Ultimate Fighter 18 tryouts, however her previously arranged fight likely prevented her from trying out for the UFC’s reality show.
