McKenzie Controls Garcia
In the second fight of the evening, Leonard Garcis and Cody McKenzie took to the Octagon. McKenzie would take control of the first two rounds with superior grappling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Garcia would try to turn it into a brawl in the third but was unable to make up the big differential and a late takedown sealed it for Cody McKenzie. The win improves McKenzie to 2-1 in his last three, and drops Garcia to 1-5 in the UFC.
Siler Defeats Holobaugh
The Ultimate Fighter 14’s Steven Siler and Strikeforce import Kurt Holobaugh got UFC 159 kicked off in the right direction with a fun opening fight. After a dominant opening frame by Siler, Holobaugh would battle back from the brink and do some solid damage in the second round. In the third round, the fight kept its back-and-forth pace until Siler was able to get the fight on the canvas after a terrible head-and-arm throw attempt by Holobaugh. The errant throw all but sealed the fight for Siler at that point, as he picked up a unanimous decision and improved to 4-1 in the Octagon.
