Former Strikeforce Lightweight Championship challenger Pat Healy finds himself leaving the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey a happy man after his promotional debut at UFC 159. UFC President Dana White has announced the UFC 159 bonuses with Healy, Jim Miller and Roy Nelson taking home $65,000 checks.
The Oregonian took home the “Fight of The Night” bonus for his scrap with Jim Miller. The opening round saw the tenured UFC fighter open up in dominant fashion. “Bam Bam” would not quietly, however, the massive lightweight rallied back and put a beating on Miller in the following rounds. While the hometown fighter remained competitive, the third round saw his undoing. Healy locked in a rear-naked choke, but the ever-rugged Miller refused to tap, going unconscious and earning an additional “Submission of the Night” bonus for the Strikeforce import, taking a hefty $130k in extra cash.
It was another day at the office for Roy Nelson. “Big Country” continued his knockout spree when he faced Cheick Kongo. It was a familiar scene as a tremendous overhand right from The Ultimate Fighter winner sent Kongo down, one follow-up punch closed the coffin on the Frenchman, locking up “Knockout of The Night”.
