Bellator has continued to build their stable of UK fighters by adding a trio of fighters highlighted by former UFC fighter Paul Sass. The promotion announced the signings today via press release.
Submission specialist Paul Sass comes to Bellator with a 13-2 record that includes wins over Jacob Volkmann and Michael Johnson. Sass was released from the UFC after dropping his last two fights. Sass is expected to debut this year, with a tournament appearance expected for early next year.
“I’m incredibly excited to get the chance to compete with Bellator,” said Sass, “After meeting with their staff and having a clear understanding of what’s next, I can’t wait to get into the cage and get into my first tournament.”
Also joining the promotion will be the hard-hitting Rob Sinclair. “C-4” has won his last five fights, including a victory over UFC veteran Andre Winner, with his last loss coming against Sass in 2009. Sinclair is expected to train full-tme for the first time in his career after signing with the tournament-based promotion.
Rounding out the signings will be former Royal Marine Commando Martin Stapleton. “.50 Cal” possesses a record of 12-1 with seven finishes in his MMA career. His lone career loss is to the aforementioned Paul Sass.
Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney stated that the signings were made with securing a TV deal in the British Isles, stating:
“The number one question I get from fans is ‘when will a UK television deal be completed with Bellator?’ With these three signings, along with a roster already featuring the likes of Paul “Semtex” Daley, Ronnie Mann and Michael Page, we are setting the table for making Bellator an every week televised occurrence in the UK.”
All three lightweights are expected to debut this fall.
