Former XFC lightweight champion Nick Newell has reportedly landed a multi-fight deal with World Series of Fighting. MMAFighting first reported the signing, and WSOF officials confirmed the signing with MMAFrenzy earlier today.
“Nick Newell is an incredible individual who exemplifies the sheer strength of the human spirit and the kind of courage and determination that martial arts embodies, so we are naturally thrilled to welcome him to the World Series of Fighting roster, and look forward to having him compete and, hopefully inspire, our national audience on NBC Sports Network,” said World Series of Fighting President Ray Sefo.
Nick Newell (9-0) is largely known for his congenital defect which led to him only having one full arm. Newell had recently competed with the XFC, notching four-straight victories in the cage. “Notorious” won the XFC lightweight crown by defeating Eric Reynolds at XFC 21.
Newell was supposed to defend his title at XFC 24, but elected to leave the promotion in an attempt to further his MMA career. Newell is expected to make his debut with the WSOF this fall.
