UFC on FOX Sports 1’s second event will see a battle of top women’s bantamweight contenders square off as 2004 Olympic silver medalist Sara McMann takes on former Strikeforce champ Sarah Kaufman. The battle was announced Tuesday evening on UFC Tonight.
McMann made her successful UFC debut earlier this year at UFC 159, where she steamrolled Sheila Gaff with her trademark wrestling and devastating ground-and-pound. The 2004 silver medalist in freestyle wrestling is currently 7-0 in her promising MMA career and has shown considerable improvement with each fight. McMann will be facing the biggest test of her career when she faces the always tough Kaufman.
Sarah Kaufman comes into her UFC on FOX Sports 1 2 bout coming off her “Fight of the Year” candidate with Leslie Smith at Invicta FC 5 this past April. Kaufman is 16-2 in her MMA career, with the lone losses coming to UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and Marloes Coenen.
UFC on FS1 2 will take place August 28 at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. The card is currently set to be headlined by a rematch between Carlos Condit and Martin Kampmann. Tickets go on sale for the August show on June 14.
