The August 31st, UFC 164 card in Milwaukee has received a change, as Quinn Mulhern has been forced to drop out of his bout with Ryan Couture due to a broken hand. The UFC has announced that TUF 15 Finalist Al Iaquinta will take his place at the event, which will be hosted by the city’s Bradley Center.
The Las Vegas Sun was the first to report Iaquinta would be Mulhern’s replacement, who had been nice enough to tweet Coutre an x-ray of his hand to let him know he was out. Mulhern followed up by saying he still wants to fight Couture at some point, and that further:
@RyanDCouture maybe we can start talking trash and get everyone excited. Potential source material: our respective/competing beards
Couture is apparently down with idea, as the lightweight stated:
@Qmulhern I’m no good at trash talk but a ‘stache-off is never a bad idea.
Mulhern would have been making his lightweight debut at UFC 164. Iaquinta (5-2-1) will now fight for the first time since last June, when he was tapped out by Michael Chiesa in the TUF 15 Finals.
Couture (6-2) is also looking for his first UFC win, as the Vegas fighter is coming off a TKO defeat at the hands of Ross Pearson in April.
