Bellator MMA is returning to New Jersey this fall with the finals of welterweight and featherweight tournaments slated for the card. The November 15 card will take place at Atlantic City’s Revel Hotel and Casino. Bellator MMA officials announced the move via press release on Monday.
The fall card will see New Jersey-native Kurt Pellegrino come out of retirement to face Saul Almeida at lightweight. Said Pellegrino:
“I’ve been in retirement for the last two years, but I’ve been in the gym every day since and the competitive fire has still been burning inside of me,” Pellegrino said. “Every morning I wake up I realize I had the same dream as the night before, and it’s to go out the way I want. With Bellator back in Atlantic City, this is my opportunity to end my nightmare and go out the way I want, the way I deserve.”
The fight card will also see Ricardo Almeida BJJ student Tom DeBlass return to the Bellator MMA cage for a second time. The UFC veteran made a successful promotional debut at Bellator 95, winning via second round stoppage to improve to 8-2 and snap a two-fight losing streak. No opponent was named for the New Jersey-native.
Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney expressed his excitement over the promotion’s New Jersey return via press release, stating:
“Atlantic City has become a second home for Bellator and with New Jersey favorites like Pellegrino and DeBlass on this card to compliment two tournament finals, Revel is in store for another huge night of fights.”
Tickets will go on sale this Friday at 10AM. The November fight card will air live via Spike TV, with a Spanish broadcast airing via mun2.
Bellator MMA will kick off its upcoming ninth season on September 7 in Uncasville, Conneticutt with Bellator 98 hitting the Mohegan Sun.
