UFC on FOX 8 kicked off the promotion’s return to Seattle with a two-fight Facebook preliminary card. In the second bout of the night, Justin Salas would defeat Aaron Riley in a fun fight. Yaotzin Meza would kick off the card with a submission victory over John Albert.
Salas Edges Riley
Justin Salas would spoil longtime veteran Aaron Riley’s return to the Octagon in our second fight of the night. Salas’ wrestling and counter strikes made the difference in what was a very close fight. Riley would nearly score a gorgeous head kick KO late, but Salas managed to survive to secure the win. The victory improves Salas to 2-1 in the UFC, while Riley drops to 1-3 in last four fights inside the Octagon.
Meza Taps Albert
John Albert and Yaotzin Meza engaged in a fun back-and-forth grappling battle to kick off the UFC’s return to Seattle. Albert’s rough weight cut would unfortunately rear its ugly head in the second round and Meza would wisely seize the advantage. Meza would survive a deep triangle attempt in the second when Albert would try to transition to an armbar but his legs would just give out. Meza would immediately seize control by taking Alberts back en route to his first UFC victory by way of rear-naked choke.
