UFC on FOX 8 Medical Suspensions

Trevor smith

The Washington State Department of Licensing has released the medical suspensions from this past weekend’s UFC on FOX 8 fight card. It is unsurprising that, on a night where multiple fighters had to be sent to the hospital, seven fighters would receive six-month bans from the commission, including main event fighter John Moraga.

Bobby Voelker, Michael Chiesa, Danny Castillo, Mac Danzig, Ed Herman, and Aaron Riley made up the rest of the fighters receiving the extended layoffs following the UFC on FOX 8 action. Riley, who lost to Justin Salas on the preliminary card, would decided to retire following the fight after injuries have plagued the latter part of his career. All fighters can return early if cleared by a doctor.

The commission did not provide details regarding the suspensions, and all fighters were suspended at least seven days for precautionary reasons.

UFC on FOX 8 Medical Suspensions:

  • John Moraga: Suspended 180 days unless cleared by doctor, otherwise suspended 30 days
  • Bobby Voelker: Suspended 180 days unless cleared by doctor, otherwise suspended 60 days
